Item Description

This limited discovery produced what are unquestionably the best Actinolites that I have seen from Namibia. I should point out that it is a rarity to find such well-crystallized Actinolite specimens from any locality, let alone an isolated occurrence in Namibia. This miniature specimen feature a divergent group of, sharp, lustrous, well-formed, prismatic dark green crystals with notably "fibrous" / chatoyant soft silvery-green zoning on the terminations, and no matrix. A showy and fine quality piece for anybody who loves Amphiboles or minerals from Namibia.
Formerly in the collection of William ("Bill") Pinch (August 15, 1940 - April 1, 2017) of Rochester, New York. Bill was one of the most knowledgeable and accomplished mineral collectors / amateur mineralogist of the 20th century, and he was the namesake for the rare mercury oxyhalide species, Pinchite. The prestigious Pinch medal, which is typically awarded at the Tucson Gem And Mineral Show by the Mineralogical Association of Canada is also named in his honor.
