Actinolite (ex. Flynn)

Here we have a fine cluster of bladed prismatic Actinolite crystals from Namibia that we rarely see. These rich, dark green crystals range in size from 1 to 5 cm in length and 0.5 to 2.5 cm in width with many displaying a silky luster and all of them are highlighted to some extent by a cream colored, almost talc-like coating, especially between the crystals, that provides wonderful contrast. The cluster of large, bladed crystals stand straight off the piece while most of the smaller ones are reclined and somewhat intergrown with one another. The edges of these larger Actinolites are almost razor sharp and they have well defined faces that are lightly striated. An attractive cluster for a relatively common rock forming mineral! Ex.
