Item Description

The famous Las Chispas Mine of Sonora, Mexico has produced some of Mexico's and the world's best silver-related species. This rich and sculptural specimen of sharp intergrown acanthite crystals has a secondary overgrowth of charcoal-gray acanthite. You can seen lustrous areas of the acanthites and scattered silver on the piece. Very rich silver ore, as the piece is essentially solid acanthite. Specimens of this quality were produced 100 years ago, from about 1900-1910. However, we have no proof, that this piece was collected in that era. This well-known Mexican locale is the subject of a fine article in the Mineralogical Record, Vol. 39, #6, November-December, 2008. Ex Dave Stoudt Collection. Valued at $800-1000.
