Acanthite

An impressive and large example of Acanthite from the major Moroccan find from 2005 at the Imiter silver Mine. This dignified piece consists of dozens stacked, pagoda-like clusters of charcoal gray Acanthite crystals displaying a matte luster. The octahedral Acanthite crystals are distinct and up to 1.5 cm on edge producing an angled geometry all over the piece. The stacked clusters are spread out over the full dimensions of the piece, top to bottom and right to left! It is a stately cluster for the species with one set of large crystals assembled vertically upward for great presentation and aesthetics. Piece like this were selling, at the time they came out, easily for 10000 euros and more at shows. Erika loved acanthite and silver species, and when these came out she pounced. We believe that she actually paid more than the going rate to secure privately some of the earliest, largest, and sharpest specimens in a few massive purchases, direct from the miners in Morocco and through several different intermediaries, surely purchasing a significant large portion of all the larger and finer specimens.
