Item Description

World-class Dominican amber is almost always transparent and has a higher number of fossil inclusions, compared to Baltic amber. The amber is from an extinct species and is about 25 million years old. This very fine cabochon cut and polished piece hosts an acacia tree frond and a dramatic 7 mm winged male ant. Valued at $750-1000 at a recent major Natural Sciences auction. ex James Zigras amber collection
