DT Fluor-liddicoatite Tourmaline (RARE Madagascar)

Item Description

Mineral specimens are EXTREMELY RARE from this pegmatite in a most obscure Madagascar locale. This VERY RARE and colorful doubly terminated Fluor-liddicoatite Tourmaline has dramatically different terminations. The very glassy, lustrous, well-striated trigonal prism is gemmy/translucent with beautiful variable orchid-violet color. The primary termination is a highly modified pinacoid, while the striking basal termination is very steep pyramidal. The two embedded blades of white cleavelandite are a nice accent. Back lighting highlights the pretty variable violet hues. Complete all-around and very nearly pristine, with only a small bruise on the primary termination. The contact on one side, where another crystal one lay, has no damage, per se and certainly has very minimal impact to the quality of this fine rarity.
