Item Description
A rare and interesting old-time artifact of the Pacific Northwest metals mining industry. This scultpural souvenir pin is from the 1909 Alaska Yukon Pacific Exposition in Seattle (printed on the back of the medallion). The classic pin features a mining pan, crossed pick and shovel and painted metal "gold" nuggets. The medallion has a miner panning for gold with his pick and shovel nearby and a steam sailing ship in the background. The head on the left is Chief Seattle and the head on the right is W.H. Seward, "Father of Alaska". Rare style and seldom on the market. Value?? This showed up in a box of random copper and metallics in the Kay Robertson collection.
