Item Description
When it comes to Azurite, most people think of Tsumeb when it comes to best specimens. The wide variety of habits combined with the amazingly high quality of the crystals will always keep Azurite among the top favorites from this prolific locale. Arguably the world's finest quality crystals of the species came from Tsumeb. These specimens are a favorite not only among Tsumeb enthusiasts, but anybody who collects secondary ore minerals, copper minerals, and even general worldwide collectors. This is a lovely thumbnail specimen and a great example of what a good Tsumeb Azurite crystal can look like, even in smaller pieces. The piece is highlighted by a 1.3 cm, impressive, very sharp, highly lustrous / "wet" looking, somewhat tabular, monoclinic, prismatic crystal with superb midnight blue color that when backlit reveals its GEM quality brilliant electric color inside! Now the main the crystal is the focal point as the accompanying crystals are not terminated due to their growing into the pocket wall, but don't let that bother you as the quality of the big crystal is superb and really looks amazing with backlighting. I don't have to tell you that the value of Tsumeb specimens seems to rise daily, and fine quality specimens are now highly sought after, and prized more than ever by dealers and collectors alike.
