SPECIAL MINERAL AUCTION – THE PERSONAL MINERAL COLLECTION OF HENRY DE LINDE - ends May 14, 2020

We are excited to announce the acquisition of the collection of Arkansas mineral and mining icon, Henry de Linde (March 21, 1923 – April 4, 2019).  Henry was one of the pivotal figures in the history of Arkansas mineralogy.  Although his professional career was with State Farm Insurance, Henry had a lifelong passion for minerals.  This drove to him become not only an accomplished amateur mineralogist, but a miner, a mine owner and an author.  De Linde started the Coon Creek Association mineral club (sometimes known as the Coon Creek Mineralogical and Recreational Society) in 1973. This no agenda, no dues, no schedule organization included an elite group of geologist and mineral enthusiasts from throughout the world. In their 20 year history, they discovered 7 minerals new to Arkansas and 5 minerals new to the world.  Henry's name was attached to some signature specimen producing localities in Arkansas, e.g., the De Linde Pits Wavellite locality in Avant, the De Linde Mine Quartz locality in Montgomery County, and the famous Diamond Jo Quarry in Magnet Cove (named after Joseph “Diamond Jo” Reynolds the leading steamboat magnate on the Upper Mississippi River circa 1860’s, who owned several profitable gold and silver mines in Arizona and Colorado).  In 1987 Delindeite, a rare sorosilicate species from Henry’s Diamond Jo Quarry, was named in his honor.  We are proud to present this introductory 30 piece auction from Henry's collection as a sampling of what you can expect to see scattered in the auctions for the coming months.  Enjoy!
