Special Auction - Gene Meieran Collection Auction!

Our friend Dr. Eugene Meieran is known for collecting big expensive gem crystals to be sure, from his many exhibits and publications over 60 years or more as a mineral collector. However, his passion was really in the breadth and diversity of the gem species, and he particularly liked to collect unique combination pieces, and assemblages from gem pegmatite deposits. The bulk of Gene's collection in quantity over the years was always more this kind of mixed sizes and styles of unusual gem crystals and gem-related minerals, than the big famous gem crystals themselves. As he decides to cull down in size by a few hundred specimens, we are honored to give our online customers a first chance at this kind of material, mostly old classics or one-offs, before presenting them in person at a show. Gene has many "excuses" for collecting several thousand specimens that exceeded his drawers and showcase spaces: by organizing them into suites. Beyond Afghan and Pakistani subcollections, he has a large subcollection of Quartzes, some of which you will see here. And... you will also find specimens here from his single crystal miniatures and small cabinet suite, featuring an array of tourmalines and topaz crystals from older finds. Not to be left out, Gene also had a thumbnail-sized "significant species crystal" suite, and we present a few of those as well. Here is a direct chance to get in on specimens released from a 60-year stash, built during the heyday of both Brazil and Pakistani/Afghani exports.
