Unusual large Hematite nodule (Dr. B. Phillips Coll.)

Item Description

A sculptural and very strange looking large, lustrous brown, bulbous hematite nodule/concretion from an unknown Chinese locale. The segmented form with filled and unfilled fractures adds a surreal quality to this most unusual two-sided piece from the Dr. Barratt Phillips Collection. It looks like a fossilized leg bone. We've not seen a Chinese hematite quite like this one.
