Item Description
An impressive and uncommon large doubly terminated tourmaline combination from Erongo Mountain. The blocky trigonal schorl strikingly has a highly lustrous dramatically striated prism face (could be foitite) and two faces with embedded smaller schorls. The different lustrous and matte finish termination faces are probably composed of typical small rod-like crystals of foitite, a rare member of the Tourmaline Group. Correct identification is only possible by suitable analytical methods, but the guidance from the literature is that the species are mixed in this style, and as described above. Complete all-around. The impressive primary display face is pristine, with the other two prism faces having only modest contacting. Most fascinating, rare and excellent large doubly terminated combination tourmaline.
