Item Description
A rarity from Bell Labs of New Jersey and held for decades in the Richard Hauck Quartz Collection along withhis other gem crystals. This is a synthetic, lab-made gem quartz crystal used for the telecommunications industry.Unlike most such pieces, it is actually beautiful and preserved without damage or cutting, so you can see how the growth of the lab crystals has been constrained and formed. The crystal has water-clear (1) to fabulously scalloped (2) to lightly scalloped sides (1) which gives an interesting textural diversity to the faces. The two metal strips at the ends held the natural quartz seed plate used to start the crystal and connect it to electrodes. Hence, this is a contact twin. Rarely on the market in such size and beauty! Valued $1000-1200.
