Item Description
An immensely sculptural, large, lightweight specimen of kalinite from this very obscure Utah locale. Kalinite is rare hydrated K-Al sulfate of questionable identity. It may be postassium alum. The dramatic, pale yellow to grayish, curved fibrous mass has striking lumpy terminations or is a crust. Uncoated fibers on one side are gorgeous, chatoyant pearlescent. VERY RARE large material from this obscure local from the Bob Trimingham Collection. Formerly in the Paul Patchick Collection and purchased in 1949 from Burminco, according to Bob's label. Very light for its size, at 261 grams mass. Value of such a rarity???
