Item Description
Embolite is an old-time synonym of bromian chlorargyrite. Isolated isometric crystals and crusts of waxy luster, olive-green embolite richly cover the front of the hefty matrix, with a bit more noted on the back. This is an excellent specimen of this very rare silver species, with fine discrete crystals and crusts, from the classic and best locality of old Broken Hill. This is a rare member of the group of related silver chlorides from Broken Hill, and hard to obtain today in good specimens. This fine piece was probably mined in the 1940s or earlier. Not pretty to look at, but is a large, rich and highly representative example of the rare species and locale. From an East Coast collection.
