Item Description

VERY RARE bauxite from Guyana in South America. Bauxite is the primary aluminium ore. This lightweight vesciular specimen is a mixture and rock, comprised of iron and aluminium hydroxides/oxides. MINDAT lists 9 bauxite mines in Guyana, but there are no photographic examples in the Guyana bauxite listing for the species. Ex David Burgess Collection, for whom Burgessite is named. It was acquired from respected rarities dealer Josef Vajdak (Pequa Minerals).
