SPECIAL COLLECTION AUCTION: DEACCESSIONS FROM THE GEORGE ELLING COLLECTION

George Elling, lifelong mineral collector and former computer sector stock analyst for Deutschbank, has collected the classics for decades.

He majored in Economics at Allegheny College but has always been a long time mineral enthusiast. During a recent visit to Allegheny, Mr. Elling also made a donation for the Geology Department to purchase new museum quality mineral cases and donated new mineral specimens that are highlights of the displays. The new mineral displays are an overwhelming hit – be sure to visit Alden Hall and see them if you live nearby! Although the large collection encompassed all old classics, particularly USA pieces, Elling has focused his mineral collection on the world famous Franklin, New Jersey locality. It remains one of the most significant in that focus.
