Almandine Garnet on Biotite Schist (Trimingham Coll.)

Item Description

Almandine garnets of this rich carmine-red color are rare from Ontario. An impressive, 2.7 cm, lustrous, tranlucent, textbook dodecahedron is very jauntily inset on the crest of the biotite schist matrix on this showy and excellent small cabinet from an obscure Ontario locale. Nearly pristine with only a modest bit of corner wear. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and purchased from W.D. Christianson of Ontario in 1977.
