Item Description

A sculptural large augite and calcite combination from this well-known Bancroft area roadcut locality. The mounded granular augite matrix hosts a very well placed mass of starkly contrasting grayish off-white calcite and several sharp, well-formed augite crystals, to 4.0 cm. Specimens of this size, richness and quality are uncommon from here. The calcite fluoresces pink. Valued by the former dealer at $950.
