Item Description
Siberite is an antique name for a red to pink opaque variety of elbaite. It was originally described from Soktuj Gora, Nerchinsk Gem mines, Russia (MINDAT). This RARE and historic old-timer is undoubtably from the Type Locality as it was in the the collection of Sir Robert Ferguson (1769-1840). He stopped collecting by 1810! Pretty, lustrous and translucent, pastel-pink slender tourmaline crystals, to 3.4 cm, are richly and dramatically set, jackstraw-style in five sides of the quartz-rich pegmatite matrix.
